This life of being a musician is a weird one. The public generally are only aware of the musicians at the top of their tree. You travel, you get things given to you all the time, you get driven everywhere, there`s plenty of ways and means to get into all the good places and life is a party. But that usually comes after years of being unknown, unloved, playing shitty venues to a half packed, half arsed audience. You lug everything about yourself and you pay for everything from your instruments to studio time. There`s so much investment you have to make; it isn`t easy.
But what happens when you`re a father and you`re not at the top of the tree yet? Working your way up and balancing having fun with the band with the responsibility of a child is a hard battle. Weeks away on the road from your cherished one or do you take them with you? I`ve seen many a friend having to choose one or the other and not being totally being happy it. Of course you need a totally supportive partner to get you through, but what if you dont?
This documentary is about Dylan Kelehan and his struggles to pursue his dreams while supporting his family. Filmaker : Patrick Johnson
