Backlights. Slowburning Indie that morphs into a pop song.
[taken from reverbnation profile]
Backlights is a New York City four-piece melding the bizarre, shattered pop song-writing of Joseph Sant, the kinetic drumming of Tyler Graham, Xiao Mei Hu’s inventive bass lines, and the versatile synthesized noise and melodies of Cecilia Song.
On October 1, 2010, Backlights self-released their debut EP at the venerable Cake Shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Just weeks later, the Deli Magazine named Backlights one of the top ten emerging bands in the New York City lo-fi scene.
your figure emerged from the replica entrance
maybe it's happening
maybe I spun it from this Finnegan's dream
half-past four in the damp air
dimly I saw either the coming of dawn
or the flicker from these shimmering screens
who is riding underground?
the best that I ever could unearth, yet nowhere to be found:
a shred of definitive proof.
world'll likely never know why
detached from all good sense
left grasping good as blind
one hundred wild ideas
like a mirror to the sky
the image changes all the time
so is it so hard to be reminded?
after so long you surface
it's strange, unless I be insane
