THE LEEDS MUSIC SCENE IS GETTING TAKEN OVER!
Oxjam is an offshoot from Oxfam , where money is raised for charity through the medium of damn good music. They`ve landed in Leeds to create a multi venue festival that will take place on the 20th October. Until then, they will be doing cool stuff around the city - from these mini events they hope to raise £3000. It kicked off yesterday at he Grove Inn with an acoustic night.. the next event will be happening on the 26th where a DJ competition will be held at the Hifi Club. The winner will get a chance to play at the Reading / Leeds festival. The Competition entries have to be in today, (We should have blogged this earlier, but busy schedule meant I misread the dates - soz!) but the actual night will be a blinder with six Dj battling it out - all for £3 on the door and all for charity. There`s going to be a lot more music events happening in Leeds thanks to oxjam/oxfam and they`ll be announced on their facebook page - like the page, and get in involved. There`s 3 months of live music coming ahead spanning different genres and locations - there`s some good people behind it that we know personally - you`re assured a good time in 2012. It`s mad that on top of all this, you`ll be doing good for people who are in need. Lots of local musicians have got involved to help raise money for oxfam.. it`s going to be a good summer.
A limited amount of Early Bird tickets for Oxjam Leeds Takeover 2012 will be released and available to purchase at a reduced price. Early Bird tickets will be available through We Got Tickets, Jumbo Records, Crash Records & from members of the team at the fundraising events.
